Nikko Washington is a Chicago (Hyde Park) multimedia painter whose portraiture-rooted work blends Mannerist figuration with expressive, colorful brushwork, drawing on boxing and mythology to explore Black identity and community.
nikko doesn't dress for the room. he dresses for whatever happens after he leaves it.
we built two things with him. an oxford that can survive a red-eye and still show up looking like it meant to. a tote that carries everything and explains nothing.
the axe. black zip oxford. no laces to think about, no excuses left. put it on, walk out, don't look back at the mirror.
the kit. black tote. big enough for the day you actually have, not the one you planned. holds a laptop, a jacket, whatever you grabbed on the way out.
